Tools for Making the Comic

The tools I used to Create the Where's Parker Comic are listed below. All of the tools used were free with the exception of Pixon. Pixon is a free tool but I needed more functionality and a single month subscription was not very expensive. The tools I chose were mostly intuitive and if not the tools had a cache of How-to videos on Youtube.

Website

Wix.com is a free site that offers premium options for advanced users. Wix has a  reputation for ease of use because of its drag and drop features. The free Wix option is customizable with options to embed video, HTML among many other options. Wix is limited by options when using the free version. Templates, fonts, and other features have presets which do not allow for customizations. Overall, for Twine games, Wix's ease of use has given me a  great place to publish games.

Twine

Twinery.org is a free text-based game building website. Twine offers a browser option or downloadable desktop app to create games. Twine has a huge community that frequently post games, how-to videos, and participate in discord conversations. Twine users must learn some basics of HTML in order to create games. Twine is limited by not having an intuitive drag and drop system however some of the fun of Twine is learning to code.

Comic Creator

Pixton.com is a free browser-based comic creator. Pixon has a couple of comic options, users can create a storyboard, basic comic, or graphic novel. Pixton also has a large online community with helpful videos etc. A feature that stood out, users have a variety of options when publishing there work. A few limitations though, I am not an artist, which means I was limited to preset characters and objects. Users can upload pictures but not with the same functionality as the presets.

Newspaper Creator

Fodey.com is a simple news story generator. It does not have a ton of options and is generally just something for laughs. The site worked for me because I did not have to recreate a newspaper and text. It is not highly functional but it gets the job done.

A Place to Publish Twine Games

Neocities.org allows users to place to publish Twine games. In the past, I could paste HTML code into Wix and publish my game. The problem this time is that with the images the file became to larger for the platform so I needed a place to host. I did not play around much with neocities, simply put my game up and linked it back to the Wix site. Neocites is highly recommended among the Twine community

Microsoft Word

I feel like this is self explanatory, however, one thing you may notice about Twine is that you do not have a feature to speel check. Often, I will put my text into Microsoft word first and then copy in paste into Twine. And yes speel is intentional. The funn
